Abstract: Logic occupies a privileged place in Ibn Khaldūn’s thought. Despite how his attitude towards the validity, value and utility of this art, is not constant, he provides us with appreciations that I find plausible, profound and precise. The amount of studies in the history of Arabic Logic in this field has multiplied in recent years. In spite of the quantity and quality of these studies, it is still possible to identify angles that still deserve further investigation. I propose here to make a few remarks, some of which are external to Logic. They are a set of judgments about the relation of some Islamic sciences to Logic. Others are internal and concern its nature, its value and its history, especially for the Islamic period. The author describes the major stages and turning points through which it has passed, with regard to its conception, its development, the rearrangement of its questions and, consequently, the renewal of the methods followed in the writing of textbooks and their commentaries. From these remarks on Logic, taken as a particular example of the sciences, I will try to draw out what I think is proper to Ibn Khaldūn’s conception of the sciences, as to their truth and their history.
