Abstract: This study will be devoted to al-Razi’s perspective on the issue of prophecy. We will discuss his way of distinguishing a true prophet from a fraudulent one, a way in which he combined the method of reason and the method of miracle. We will also try to discover the reasons why he did not rely solely on the method of miracle. In addition to this, we will attempt to determine the extent of the presence of the influence of Avicenna’s views in his rational method, and the extent to which he committed to the Ashʿarite theology in his views of prophecy as a whole, and in his formulation of the rational method in particular. We will highlight this question from two levels. we devote the first to his perception of the issue of the existence of prophecy: is the existence of prophecy necessary, possible, or impossible? And the second to his way of verifying the credibility of the messenger.
